MICHELLE (2017)
This painting is my heartfelt tribute to Michelle Obama, completed at the beginning of 2017. I have always painted strong, elegant, and proud women, and she embodies these qualities and more. She is an inspiration to us all, and I aimed to represent her in the best possible way.
This mixed media painting stands at 48" tall by 36" wide. The background is crafted from recycled and collaged wallpaper samples, while her clothing is made from carefully selected fabric samples recycled from interior design projects. Her hair and flesh are painted in acrylics on gallery-wrapped canvas, and her accessories are adorned with semi-precious stones. I used much symbolism in my choice of patterns. This creation took about two months to complete and went viral a year later when I posted it on the official Michelle Obama FB fan page receiving nearly 80K likes and 60K shares on that single post.
